So, in all my years crossdressing, I’ve never really truly thought that I would be able to pass in public; I’m tall and definitely not slim (5′-11″ and 185 lbs.; see this post), I’ve got a big ass head, a deep voice, and as one of my friends calls them, “sausage hands.” Awesome. Regardless, I’ve also got a lot of personal issues to deal with before I ever get to that point, and a large part of it is that I’m not sure if it’s something that I definitely want to do.
But now I’m starting to think to myself that if I can overcome probably two of the greater obstacles in front of me right now, well, there’s nothing really stopping me from stepping outside as my femminine self. Maybe the mere fact that I’m talking about this means that I do want to give it a shot? Maybe if I had a name, that would help me stay focused on my own potential down the road en femme.
So, go ahead then, call me Shannon.
“Why Shannon,” you ask? Well, from what I can remember, it came up in a chat room probably back in 2002 or 2003. It was around that time that I found a free chat room service that I came to enjoy quite a bit, and since I was living alone at the time, I was logging in quite often. There’s a whole other story to this that I will get to sometime soon, but what I’ll tell you now is that when I first started chatting there, I had no idea what to expect; it was my first ever experience in adult chat rooms. So, when a fellow chatter asked what my name was, s-h-a-n-n-o-n just sort of typed itself out.
